Democrats Lift Ban Prohibiting Tax Dollars From Funding Needle-Exchange Efforts in D.C.

 

Washington- Last summer, Paul Hodes (NH-02) joined his liberal Democrat Party in Washington in voting to allow tax dollars to be spent on providing drug users in the nation’s capitol with new needles. Now, almost a half million dollars is being directed to this effort because of their vote in support of this funding (House Roll Call 589) .

“Needle-exchange efforts in the District will expand significantly by summer as $494,000 in city funding -- the first local appropriation allowed in a decade begins flowing to four organizations on the front line of the fight against HIV/AIDS.” (Washington Post, April 25, 2008)

“The Democrats are already known for providing handouts for illegal immigrants, and now they are providing handouts to drug users. This is getting out-of-hand,” NRCC spokesman Ken Spain said. “This recent action by Paul Hodes and the Democrats shows just how out-of-touch they are with the majority of voters across the country.”

Paul Hodes has racked up a very extreme voting record in Congress. Voters in New Hampshire deserve a representative who will fight for their views and values in Washington, not a representative who votes in lock-step with the most liberal leaders of the House.
