Bosse Campaign - Hypocritical Hodes Blocks Earmark Reform

Democrat Feeds Washington’s Addiction to Pork Barrel Spending

(Hillsboro)  Republican Grant Bosse today criticized Democratic Congressman Paul Hodes for once again blocking real earmark reform inWashington.  Hodes joined House Speaker Nancy Pelosi yesterday in blocking consideration of a one-year moratorium on new earmarks. Roll Call Vote 154.

“When he was running for Congress, Paul Hodes said earmarks were the problem.  Once he got elected, Paul Hodes became part of the problem,”Bosse said.  “It’s time we bring some sanity back to the budget process, and end earmarking once and for all.”

Bosse is the first candidate in New Hampshire’s Second District to pledge against seeking any earmarks if elected.  This has drawn the praise of former House Majority Leader Dick Armey.

“I applaud Grant Bosse for taking a lead in the fight to reform the broken and corrupt earmark process. Grant understands this is an inappropriate way to spend taxpayers’ money,” Armey said.  “The people of New Hampshire should be pleased that Grant Bosse is taking a bold stand against politics as usual and cutting special interests off from the government trough.”

Hodes has repeatedly voted against earmark reform, and has refused to support even a one-year moratorium on the controversial practice.  RollCall Vote 32.  Bosse has already challenged his fellow Republican candidates to take the No Earmark Pledge.
