DOVER – Strafford County Democratic Party activists will join Democrats from across the Granite State Saturday, May 17 for the 2008 New Hampshire Democratic Convention at McLaughlin Middle School in Manchester.
“I am excited to join more than a hundred Democratic activists from every city and town in Strafford County at the 2008 convention,” says Strafford County chair Joan Ashwell of Durham. “This year’s convention will be an opportunity for Democrats from all ten counties to build our grassroots organization, preparing the groundwork to keep New Hampshire in the Democratic column in November.”
Convention speakers will include Democratic National Committee chair Dr. Howard Dean as well as the state’s Democratic leaders, Gov. John Lynch, former governor and Senate candidate Jeanne Shaheen of Madbury, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter of Rochester, Congressman Paul Hodes, Senate President Sylvia Larsen and House Speaker Terie Norelli.
The convention will include approval of the party platform and breakout workshop sessions focused on the major issues facing the state and the nation.
