DOVER – Strafford County Democrats will launch the 2008 general election campaign in the coming week with two major events, electing county party officers this Saturday, June 7 and opening the first of two Strafford County Coordinated Campaign offices Monday evening, June 9.
Democrats from across the county will meet at the McConnell Center, 73 Locust St. in Dover Saturday, June 7 at 10:00 a.m. to elect four county officers and five at-large executive committee members for the coming two years. All registered Democrats in Strafford County are eligible to run for the executive committee and vote in Saturday’s election.
U.S. Senate candidate Gov. Jeanne Shaheen will be the special guest Monday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the grand opening of the Strafford County Coordinated Campaign Office at 11 Chestnut St. in Dover. The Dover office will be the headquarters for all local Democratic campaigns up and down the ticket for federal, state and county offices. A second Strafford County Coordinated Campaign Office will open later this summer in Rochester.
“We had tremendous success in the 2006 elections,” Strafford County Democratic Committee chair Joan Ashwell said, “And hundreds of local Democrats were active in January’s presidential primary campaigns. We’re building on this excitement to elect Democrats this fall to continue our good work in Concord and bring real change to Washington and the nation.”
