Holy Road Tours Union - Scott Ritter in Portsmouth 8/3

Real Intelligence with Scott Ritter and Lizzie West & Baba Buffalo
When: August 3, 2008 at 7:00 PM
Where: South Church, 292 State Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801

Join former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter and special guests Lizzie West & Baba Buffalo for a lively, indispensable discussion about the “War on Terror” and Iran in the crosshairs.  Find out why Ritter, who visited Iran on a fact-finding mission, commented, "We are seeing history repeat itself."

Ritter, who famously and accurately argued that Iraq no longer had weapons of mass destruction, recommends diplomatic engagement with Iran, and supports local and national efforts to pass resolutions urging President Bush to refrain from ordering any military attack against Iran without explicit Congressional authorization.

In an interview with Amy Goodman broadcast on April 28, 2008, Ritter stated: "There is no doubt in my mind that the United States is planning right now, as we speak, a military strike against Iran."  The former weapons inspector warns that such an attack is unnecessary, and if launched, could provoke a massive response with catastrophic consequences to millions of people, including Americans.

Ritter's credibility is difficult to dismiss.  As Seymour Hersh puts it: "The most important thing to know about Scott Ritter is that he was right."

Lizzie West & Baba Buffalo, whose “19 Miles to Baghdad” is played frequently on Democracy Now!, will be performing songs from their upcoming album, The Tumbleweed Cabaret (Dream #1), slated for August release.  A unique blend of blues, roots, stride and storytelling defines their traveling peace revival.

The admission charge is $15 in advance, and $20 at the door.  A book signing will immediately follow the event.  This event is co-sponsored by U.S. Tour of Duty, Cuzin Richard Presents, Portsmouth Community Radio, Holy Road Tours Union, Smuttynose Brewing Company, Portsmouth Brewery, Hilton Garden Inn, New Hampshire Peace Action, CodePink New Hampshire, Seacoast Peace Response, and RiverRun Bookstore.  For more information and advance tickets visit http:www.realintelligence.org or call 800.838.3006.

Various analysts, journalists and performers will be appearing with Ritter throughout the summer.  Although their mission is urgent, the featured participants are feeling upbeat about the public's appetite for reliable news and analysis, and the events are expected to be not only informational, but inspirational and fun.
Undeniably, something good has begun; intelligence professionals who keep getting it right, have found their audience.

SCOTT RITTER, author of Target Iran, Waging Peace and Iraq Confidential, was one of UNSCOM's most senior weapons inspectors in Iraq between 1991 and 1998, after having served for eight years as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.  As a Marine, he conducted arms inspections in the former Soviet Union, and provided analysis of Iraq's missile capacity to General Schwarzkopf in the 1991 Gulf War.  Nation Books is the publisher of "Target Iran," "Iraq Confidential," and "Waging Peace."

LIZZIE WEST & BABA BUFFALO are co-founders of Holy Road Tours Union (HRTU), a brand new progressive arts cooperative.  http://www.lizziewestlife.com
