CONCORD – Campaigning in Plymouth this week, Jeanne Shaheen unveiled an energy “plan” that does nothing to reduce rising fuel prices. Shaheen also called for an increased dependence on foreign sources of oil while continuing to oppose efforts to expand offshore exploration and increase our domestic supply of energy.
In her “five steps” to solve our energy crisis Shaheen discusses her proposals to alter energy trading regulations and to “stop filling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve” – apparently unaware that recent legislation has already addressed both issues. She also calls for more unproductive commissions and “task forces” to study the energy regulations. Shaheen’s plan also fails to expand offshore energy exploration, tap energy reserves in ANWR and lower gas prices for New Hampshire families and small businesses.
“Apparently Jeanne Shaheen copied the wrong set of talking points for her latest policy proposal, because recent legislation has already made many of her ‘groundbreaking’ ideas completely obsolete. Her empty rhetoric and staunch opposition to expanded domestic oil production will do nothing to reduce the pain at the pump.” said New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen.
“The bottom line is that Jeanne Shaheen has yet to offer any real solutions to make our country more energy independent and control skyrocketing fuel prices. Her latest botched attempt to lay out a comprehensive energy policy reminds Granite Staters of the abysmal leadership and poor judgment that plagued her failed term in office,” Cullen said.
