American Women Make America Work
Following Tuesday night’s presentation of the United States Senate women’s Checklist for Change, Wednesday’s program will honor and highlight the central role of Democratic women in moving the country toward change.
Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, will introduce a panel of speakers to discuss key issues surrounding the evening’s theme, “Securing America’s Future.” The House women will read excerpts from letters highlighting the concerns of women across America, speak to Democratic House accomplishments on those issues and outline the change Barack Obama will enact on their behalf.
The House women featured in Wednesday’s program include Chair of the Democratic Women’s Working Group Representative Lois Capps of California, Representative Kathy Castor of Florida, Representative Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut, Representative Nita Lowey of New York, Representative Louise Slaughter of New York, Representative Hilda Solis of California and Representative Maxine Waters of California.
The women will address such critical issues confronting women across America including equal pay, consumer safety, national security, energy independence, healthcare, affordable housing and college affordability.
