ROCHESTER – Strafford County Democrats and the party’s candidates in the November 4 election will be out in force at the 133rd Rochester Fair when the fair opens its 10-day run Friday, Sept. 12 at the fairgrounds.
The Strafford County Democratic Committee booth in the Exhibition Hall will be staffed by local volunteers who will meet and greet the estimated 125,000 visitors who will visit the fair between this Friday and Sunday, Sept. 21.
Bumper stickers, lawn signs and campaign literature for all Democratic candidates up and down the ballot will be available at the booth. Candidates will be visiting throughout the ten days to meet voters in person and listen to their concerns. The Obama/Biden Campaign for Change, the Jeanne Shaheen for Senate and Carol Shea-Porter Congressional re-election campaigns are joining with local democratic committees to staff the booth.
“The Rochester Fair is a wonderful community event, “ Rochester Democratic Committee co-chair Dr. Walter Hoerman said, “and we’re excited to be part of it. Democratic candidates for the state House and Senate and for county offices will be on hand for some real grassroots campaigning. We expect candidates for state and federal offices and their representatives to stop by the booth as well.”
Strafford County Democrats are campaigning hard to elect and re-elect candidates in November. Campaign offices are open in Rochester, Dover and Somersworth, and volunteers are contacting voters throughout the county. Democrats won 36 of Strafford County’s 37 House seats and three of four Senate seats in 2006.
