NH DHHS Receives Federal Award For High Performance in Determining Food Stamp Eligibility
Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 12:35PM Concord, NH – The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Family Assistance (DFA) will be recognized with a high performance award during a presentation in Concord on Wednesday afternoon, October 28.
Representatives from the US Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) will present Governor John Lynch and DHHS Commissioner Nicholas Toumpas with the award that recognizes the quality with which DFA staff process client applications. Specifically, in Federal Fiscal Year 2008, DFA was 4th best in the country for having a “negative error rate," which is a measure for the appropriateness of application denials and case closures. Along with the award, DFA has been provided a federal high performance cash bonus of $486, 756. DHHS’ Division of Family Assistance (DFA) administers the federally funded Food Stamp Program. The Program provides support to needy households and those trying to transition to self-sufficiency. The Program served 44,000 New Hampshire households in September.
