Jennifer E. Whitten has lived in 12 states, 19 towns, and 26 residences, ranging from rural to city locales. This movement from place to place has increased her focus on all aspects of community. She currently lives in the Seacoast area, works as the Writing Studio Director at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, and spends as much time as she can on Star Island, one of the Isles of Shoals. A poet, fiction writer, and nonfiction writer, Ms. Whitten holds degrees from the University of New Hampshire, the University of Colorado in Boulder, and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her chapbook, Auction, was selected as the recipient of the 11th annual Philbrick Prize, and was published by the Providence Athenaeum Library in May.
