Concord – Today, Mo Baxley, President of the Freedom to Marry Coalition, delivered a letter to the chairman of the Republican Party, John H. Sununu, inviting him to meet with members of the LGBT community to discuss the offensive remarks made prominent Republican activist and radio host, Doug Lambert, on his radio show this past Saturday.
Below is the letter in full:
Dear Chairman John H. Sununu,
I want to invite you to a meeting with members of the LGBT community to discuss the offensive remarks made by prominent Republican activist and conservative radio host, Doug Lambert, on his show last Saturday.
I’m sure you are familiar with the hateful things he has said, so I won’t repeat them here. I commend your Republican colleagues for their forceful and immediate condemnation of Mr. Lambert’s remarks. That said, as a former governor and chairman of the New Hampshire Republican Party, it’s important that you take a leadership role and stand up against this type of rhetoric.
As you know, New Hampshire’s LGBT community includes parents, spouses, and individuals of all political persuasions. Without a swift denunciation of the hurtful language used by Mr. Lambert, I fear your silence on this issue would embolden others who may feel the same way to act in a similar manner.
Please let me know when you are available to discuss these issues at your earliest convenience.
I look forward to hearing from you.
