DNC - SATURDAY IN CONCORD: HUNDREDS GATHER HOURS BEFORE CONGRESS IS SCHEDULED TO VOTE ON HEALTH INSURANCE REFORM
Friday, November 6, 2009 at 12:07PM Concord event is one of many happening across the state and the country to build support for health insurance reform
Concord, NH- Organizing for America (OFA) will join with Change that Works to hold a public gathering in support of health insurance reform at the State House in Concord on Saturday, November 7th at 2:00 PM. Those in attendance will hear from Representative Carol Shea-Porter, State Senate Majority Leader Maggie Hassan, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Raymond Buckley, area residents and medical professionals on the urgent need for Congress to pass health insurance reform.
Saturday’s event comes the day that the House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on health insurance reform legislation. Since the summer, support for reform has been growing and we're closer than ever to making it a reality. At its core, the President’s reform will achieve three goals that are critical to all Americans— it will provide stability and security to those who have insurance, more quality, affordable choices to those who don't and it will reign in the skyrocketing cost of health care for families, businesses and government.
Organizing for America is a project of the Democratic National Committee committed to building on and strengthening the historic grassroots network created during the campaign to elect President Obama. Since June 6th, OFA has held nearly 20,000 events in all 50 states and every congressional district in support of President Obama's plan for health insurance reform.
Change That Works is a grassroots organization that energizes Americans in support of a broad progressive agenda. Concentrated in 12 states that are key to federal legislative outcomes, Change That Works is a vehicle for committed individuals to act on their progressive values through collective action and advocacy.
