SEIA - New Date, Location for PV America, Solar Pho tovoltaic’s Leading Conference and Trade Show

Solar electric industry returns to Philadelphia in April 2011

WASHINGTON, D.C. – PV America has changed the date and location for its next meeting to April 3-5, 2011, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA. Additional details and announcements can be found at
PV America 2011 will be presented by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) through Solar Energy Trade Shows LLC, a new partnership announced by the organizations at the Solar Power International 2009 conference and trade show ( Unlike other PV conferences, all proceeds support the expansion of the U.S. solar energy market through SEIA and SEPA’s year-round advocacy, research, and education activities.
“Solar has been one of the economic bright spots during this recession and no area of the country has seen more economic and job growth from the solar industry than the Mid-Atlantic,” said Rhone Resch, President and CEO of SEIA. “We’re excited to return to Philadelphia and to Pennsylvania, which is at the heart of the Mid-Atlantic PV industry and home to some of the best solar programs in the country.”
“Utilities in the Mid-Atlantic have been among the leaders in promoting solar photovoltaics,” said Julia Hamm, Executive Director of (SEPA). “PV America complements its sister show Solar Power International nicely, and we’re looking forward to adding a valuable utility perspective to this already well-respected conference.”
“Philadelphia is thrilled that the PV America conference is coming back to the Philadelphia Convention Center," said Mayor Michael A. Nutter. "With plans for a 170 kW installation using Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant dollars and the creation of a guidebook for solar development using support from the Department of Energy's Solar America Cities program, Philadelphia is the perfect location to discuss solar energy deployment. We appreciate the opportunity and look forward to hosting PV America again in April 2011.”
PV America 2009 attracted over 2,300 industry attendees and 138 exhibitors.  Additionally, more than 1,700 local residents attended Tuesday’s Public Day to see the latest innovations in PV technology and opportunities to install clean, affordable solar energy on their homes and businesses.
SEIA and SEPA anticipate the success of the 2011 event to include approximately 3,000 industry attendees and more than 1,500 Public Day participants. Organizers expect the trade show to attract 200 exhibitors across the PV value chain, filling the 40,000 gross square foot exposition hall. Exposition sales to exhibitors will open in April 2010.
PV America was originally to be located at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC form April 8-10, 2010. However, organizers opted to postpone PV America until 2011 due to a conflicting event hosted by the White House at the Washington Convention Center.
