NRSC Response to Hodes' TARP Bill Introduction

ALL – please see the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s (NRSC) response below to Democrat Senate hopeful Paul Hodes’ introduction of a bill this evening that would end the TARP bank bailout fund:

“Let’s at least acknowledge what this bill is: a campaign gimmick. If Paul Hodes is truly concerned about the national debt, why did he vote for the failed stimulus bill, Pelosi’s bloated budget, or the massive government-run health care legislation, which his own Democrat Governor said was too expensive? Thanks to Paul Hodes’ support for Nancy Pelosi’s liberal spending agenda, our nation’s deficit is at an all-time high and Granite State voters are paying the price. And now Paul Hodes really expects voters to believe that he is concerned about the debt? The proof is in his record – a record he will be held accountable for next year.” – Amber Wilkerson Marchand, NRSC spokeswoman

Notable fact to consider – Remember that trillion dollar “stimulus” boondoggle that Paul Hodes voted for earlier this year? Well it turns out the interest payments on the “stimulus” bill alone are $347 billion over the next decade. Just the interest payments. An average of $100 million a day. Every day. And yet Paul Hodes would have New Hampshire voters believes he’s now concerned about the irresponsible tax-and-spend policies of the Pelosi-led Congress?
