NHDP - Ayotte Defends GOP Health Care Tricks

Applauds Sen. Gregg's Efforts to Use Archaic Procedural Delay Tactics to Waste Taxpayer Money and Kill Health Care Reform
CONCORD - Kelly Ayotte voiced full support yesterday for Sen. Judd Gregg's efforts to derail health care reform and delay quality, affordable care for thousands of families across the Granite State. Sen. Gregg delivered a "how-to" memo to senate minority members on Wednesday detailing procedural tricks and parliamentary delay tactics members should use in order to halt Democrat's efforts at real reform [NYT, 12/2/09].
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid personally lambasted New Hampshire's Republican Senator saying: "It's worth noting that this Senator - who, more than any other, often speaks publicly about how to properly use citizens' tax dollars - has now signed his name to a plan with the explicit goal of wasting the taxpayer's time and money" [TPM, 12/3/09]. Kelly Ayotte, however, eagerly "applauded" Gregg's attempts to derail reform, calling them "right and appropriate" [Foster's Daily Democrat, 12/3/09].
"Kelly Ayotte would rather be in the backroom of the Washington establishment playing insider politics than fighting for the reforms New Hampshire families desperately need," said Emily Browne, Press Secretary for the New Hampshire Democratic Party. "Kelly's health care plan does three things: reduce access, eliminate services, and delay crucial reforms that will deliver quality, affordable care to the Granite State. Once again, Kelly refuses to stand up to her establishment friends in Washington and be an independent voice for what New Hampshire needs."
