NRSC Calls On Hodes To Renounce Democrat Senate Leader's Comparison Between Health Care And Slavery

WASHINGTON – The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) called on Democrat Senate hopeful U.S. Representative Paul Hodes (D-NH) to immediately and publicly renounce Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) inflammatory statements this morning when he compared the opponents of his $2.5 trillion government-run health care bill to defenders of slavery in the 19th century.

“Paul Hodes should immediately renounce these statements by Democrat Senate Leader Harry Reid, who compared Americans who rightly oppose the Democrats’ government-run health care plan to those who once defended the deplorable act of slavery,” said NRSC spokeswoman Amber Wilkerson Marchand.

“If Congressman Hodes is going to stand by his constituents in his campaign for the U.S. Senate, he must immediately and publicly repudiate this deeply offensive remark. If he remains silent, New Hampshire voters can only conclude that Hodes agrees with Reid’s offensive statements about Americans who do not want ObamaCare in their state,” Marchand concluded.
