Shea-Porter Votes to Block Congressional Pay Raise

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter released the following statement today on her vote to block a Congressional pay raise.

“I was pleased that the Omnibus Appropriations Act included a provision freezing Congressional pay. I was not in Congress when the law was passed to give Members of Congress automatic annual cost of living increases and in the current economic crisis, I do not believe that automatic pay raises for Members of Congress are appropriate.”
