Shea-Porter Announces Nearly $550,000 in Funding for New Hampshire Police Departments Included in Omnibus Appropriations Bill

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter announced that nearly $550,000 in funding for the Rochester, Portsmouth, and Dover Police Departments is included in the Omnibus Appropriations Bill. The bill passed the House of Representatives on February 25th and is currently being debated in the Senate.

“This is great news,” said Congresswoman Shea-Porter. “This funding will help ensure our police officers have the equipment they need in order to keep New Hampshire residents safe.”

 

A full description of the funding is below:

 

Rochester Police Department -- $125,000 – Training & Equipment

 

To assist the Police Department with purchasing updated equipment and providing law enforcement officers with the training they need.

 

Portsmouth Police Department -- $105,000 – Digital Radio Encryption

 

To assist the Police Department with modifying its existing radio system to allow the use of encryption capabilities.

 

Portsmouth Police Department -- $80,000 – Evidence Equipment

 

To assist the city with the acquisition of equipment for an Evidence Collection Vehicle for use by the Detective Division and the Accident Investigation Team.

 

Dover Police Department -- $235,000 – Equipment & Training

 

To assist the Police Department with purchasing updated equipment and providing law enforcement officers with the training they need.
