NEW HAMPSHIRE – On Thursday, April 16th Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter will participate in a Green Small Business Tour with the Green Alliance. This tour will highlight New Hampshire’s developing green economy and emphasize the positive role that businesses can play in combating climate change. Following the tour, the Congresswoman will participate in a press conference at New Hampshire’s first owner-financed Platinum LEED house.

Background: The Southeast New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity has opened the first ReStore retail location in New Hampshire in Dover. ReStore welcomes the public to shop its expansive inventory of new and reusable building materials and home improvement supplies. All of ReStore’s Profits go to fund local Habitat for Humanity Projects.

What: Congresswoman Shea-Porter Tours LEED certified home

Background: Little Green Homes is currently constructing a LEED Platinum single-family residence on Lawrence St. in Portsmouth. This home will be the first owner-financed Platinum LEED house in New Hampshire and only the 28th in the nation. It will be a net-zero building, meaning that it will generate all of its energy from sustainable sources. Solar panels will power the electric as well as provide domestic hot water and heat through radiant floor heating.
