WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter today announced that the $250 economic recovery payments for all Social Security recipients, which were provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will begin to go out tomorrow. These payments will all be sent out by the end of May.
“These recovery payments can make a real difference in the lives of New Hampshire seniors and disabled residents,” said Congresswoman Shea-Porter. “These funds are needed now more than ever to help people through these difficult economic times, and I was happy to vote for this.”
By mid-May, payments to recipients of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits will also be sent. In addition, in late May, payments being made to Social Security and SSI recipients will be released to disabled veterans, and Railroad Retirement recipients will receive benefits in June. In total, $58.12 million will be sent out to 212,838 people throughout New Hampshire, including $28.51 million for the 1st District.
