Says Healthcare Bill Should Not Include Subsidies for Abortion Services
Manchester - Reacting to recent reports that the government healthcare plan proposed by President Obama, and currently being debated by the US House, may include mandatory coverage for abortion services, CPR-Action Executive Director, Kevin Smith commented:
"We strongly urge Congressman Hodes and Congresswoman Shea-Porter to ensure that New Hampshire tax-payers are not subsidizing abortion services with their hard-earned money. In this economy when most people are still worried about how they will make ends meet while federal deficits continue to skyrocket, now is especially not the time to consider using tax-payer funds for such controversial procedures."
Reports over the weekend in the New York Times and in Politico confirm that abortion services are being considered as part of the US government-run healthcare plan. In a recent appearance on Fox News Sunday, when asked about the abortionprovision, US Senator, Judd Gregg commented, “I would hate to see the health care debate go down over that issue.”
