With 144,000 New Hampshire Residents Lacking Health Coverage, Ayotte Has Choice To Make: Stand With Republicans For Political Gain or Do The Right Thing

New stunning comments from U.S. Senator James Inhofe: stalling health care would be a “huge gain” in the 2010 elections

With Republicans continuing to refuse to work with Senate Democrats on bi-partisan health care reforms and with recent comments from U.S. Senator James Inhofe indicating that stalling on health care reform would be a “huge gain” in the 2010 elections – where does Kelly Ayotte stand? As the people of New Hampshire suffer under rising health care costs, Senate Republicans have wiped their hands clean of any responsibility to address this crisis. Will Kelly Ayotte continue to stand with fellow Republicans and play political games, or will she finally go to work for the people of New Hampshire?

“Over the past 72 hours we have seen Republicans admit what we have all feared: partisan gamesmanship is prevailing over doing the right thing,” said Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Communications Director Eric Schultz. “If Kelly Ayotte agrees with her party that scoring political points is more important than covering the uninsured and bringing down health costs for all Americans, then she should say so. Republicans’ do nothing approach is why we have this problem in the first place and it would serve them well to be a part of the solution.”

INHOFE: Stalling on Health Care Would be “Huge Gain” For 2010 Election. On Hugh Hewitt’s radio show, Senator James Inhofe said, “I just hope the President keeps talking about it, keeps trying to rush it through. We can stall it. And that’s going to be a huge gain for those of us who want to turn this thing over in the 2010 election.” [Hugh Hewitt Radio Show, 7/22/09]
