Each month until the end of the year, CITGO Petroleum’s FuelingGood program will reward community heroes across the country who support local charities and service organizations. This month, a charity from your community has been selected as a finalist and voting is now open at www.FuelingGood.com to decide who will win a year’s worth of gas.
Spread the Dough, based in Stratham, New Hampshire, is a youth organization which donates leftover bread from local bakeries to homeless shelters. The group was established in 2005 by a local New Hampshire resident and has grown to include chapters in seven states across the country.
Voting is open at www.FuelingGood.com until July 15, 2009, and will decide this month’s grand prize winner. We hope that you will share information on Fueling Good and encourage your readers to vote for their favorite community hero.
Below you will find a press release with more information on Fueling Good as well as links to the Web site and our Facebook and Twitter pages. Please let me know if you have further questions about the program.
CITGO Launches Fueling Good Promotion
Rewards local charities and good deeds with free fuel
HOUSTON -- CITGO Petroleum Corp. has launched Fueling Good, a program dedicated to local heroes who do good work in their communities. Launched June 1 and extending through the end of the year, the promotion rewards CITGO gift cards to those people who do the most good.
Local community heroes submit their personal stories of how they support their communities to www.FuelingGood.com. Five finalists will be selected from the entries and posted to the Fueling Good Web site. Then America will vote each month on the cause and the individual they think is doing the most good. The entry each month that receives the most votes from the American public will win a CITGO gift card valued at a year's supply of fuel from CITGO. The other four finalists will win $50 CITGO gift cards. The monthly promotion runs from June through November, with a "last chance" round of voting in December for all the remaining finalists of the previous six months.
Within the 27 states of the CITGO gasoline network footprint, any act of good will, from an individual using their own time to help a local school team make it to the state finals, to someone helping an elderly neighbor with errands—and everything in between—is eligible.
Underlying the promotion is the notion that while the spirit of helping others is alive and well, many good deeds simply go unnoticed. Additionally, with today's economy, people might not be able to provide donations to their favorite charities, but through Fueling Good they can nominate their local heroes for the good work being done. And those nominations that receive the most votes from those visiting the site are further promoted and rewarded with CITGO gift cards.
Helping those in need is one of the core values of CITGO and is aligned with the social development principles of the CITGO shareholder, Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A., the national oil company of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. All CITGO employees at the refineries, lubricants blending plants, terminals, and corporate office, as well as the employees and operators of the nearly 7,000 locally owned CITGO gasoline stations and fast lubes across the country, are dedicated to the spirit of helping others and Fueling Good.
