NH DHHS - NH Foster Youth Gather For Independent Living Conference

“Teamwork Makes the Dream Work”

Concord, NH – More than 100 youth will gather tomorrow, Thursday, August 13 for the 5th Annual Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Teen Conference. The daylong conference is designed for youth ages 14 – 20 currently in or adopted from state care. There will be a number of workshops geared toward providing these youth with helpful information on topics such as obtaining employment, navigating the college admissions process, eating healthy and living within your means. There will also be an opportunity for youth to network, and learn about resources to assist them as they transition from out-of-home placement to adulthood.

New Hampshire’s Health and Human Services (DHHS) Deputy Commissioner Mary Ann Cooney and DCYF Director Maggie Bishop will speak at the Conference. The keynote address will be an improvisational performance called “Gorilla Theater.” The conference begins at 8:15 AM in the Granite State Room at the Memorial Union Building at the University of New Hampshire in Durham.
