Lamontagne Debuts www.discoverovide.com Just Days After Kelly Ayotte’s Attacks On His Wealthy Upbringing
Today, as Ovide Lamontagne launches his U.S. Senate campaign website, www.discoverovide.com, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee has made some interesting “discoveries” about Ovide Lamontagne which the people of New Hampshire will be discovering soon as well. As Kelly Ayotte’s recent attacks on Ovide Lamontagne made clear, the former gubernatorial candidate has spent years advocating for policies that benefit only the wealthy, at the expense of the middle-class. Currently, Lamontagne is calling for an immediate, complete repeal of President Obama’s stimulus package, which has saved and created thousands of good paying jobs in New Hampshire. Lamontagne is staunchly anti-choice, opposed the nomination of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, and doesn’t support health care reform. After the people of New Hampshire get a full view of Lamontagne’s record, they will find an extreme right-wing politician determined to bring New Hampshire back to the failed policies of George W. Bush.
“Once New Hampshire voters discover Ovide Lamontagne, they will find a candidate who has consistently advocated for policies that favor the very wealthy over the middle-class,” said Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Communications Director Eric Schultz. “Whether it is his unqualified support for George W. Bush’s failed economic policies, his anti-choice stance, or his dismissal of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, it is clear that Lamontagne wants to take New Hampshire backwards, not forwards, and it’s why he is unfit to serve in the United State Senate.”
Ayotte Criticized Lamontagne’s Allegedly Wealthier Upbringing. In August 2009, Ayotte introduced an attack on her GOP primary opponent Ovide Lamontagne contrasting his presumably wealthier upbringing to her middle class background. According to Red Hampshire, “While she mentioned Paul Hodes by name throughout her stump speech she did take the opportunity to fire one of her first shots across the bow of the GOP Primary. She also took her first slap at potential primary rival Ovide Lamontagne, contrasting her middle-class background and strong family connections in the state with Lamontagne’s (presumably large and fancy) farm.” [Red Hampshire Blog, 8/17/09]
