DOVER – The Executive Committee of the Strafford County Democratic Committee issued this statement in support of President Obama’s healthcare reform proposal:
President Obama last night outlined a compelling case for the need for meaningful health care reform.
The current health care system is sick. Some 140,000 New Hampshire residents are without health insurance. Premiums for those with insurance have nearly doubled in the past decade. President Obama’s plan will make sure those without health insurance can obtain it, and those with health insurance will know they can keep their policies. By reducing costs, the plan will guarantee all Americans accessible, affordable health care in the future.
The nation has always worked together to meet our greatest challenges. We join with President Obama in his call for all of us to put partisan politics aside and work together, taking the best ideas from all, to create a health care system that works for all of us. As the president said last night, “We can meet history’s test. That is our character.”
