WASHINGTON, DC — Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter today announced that the Strafford County Commission will receive $400,000 for the “Grants to Encourage Arrest Policies and Enforcement of Protection Orders Program.”  This program, which was created by the passage of the Violence Against Women Act in 1994, enhances victim safety and offender accountability in cases of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.  This grant is funded through the Office on Violence Against Women of the United States Department of Justice.
