WASHINGTON, DC — Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter released the following statement regarding House passage of the Emergency Aid to American Survivors of the Haiti Earthquake Act:
“This bill will provide Americans being evacuated from Haiti with necessary aid in a fiscally responsible manner. It is essential that we help bring these Americans home.”
S. 2949 passed the House by voice vote on January 26, 1010. It will extend temporary aid through the Repatriation program to help the thousands of Americans who are evacuating Haiti and assist them in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. This legislation is fully paid for, has already passed the Senate, and now heads to the President’s desk where it is expected to be signed into law.
