AFP - Spending Revolt's Coming to NH this week!

Dear Friends,

The Spending Revolt Bus will be rolling into Barnstead, Portsmouth and Concord!  Will you join us to show your support for fiscal restraint and tackling the spending crisis in Washington?

The Spending Revolt National Bus Tour will stop in Barnstead for a Meet All the Candidates Night at J.J. Goodwin’s Restaurant on Wednesday, October 20th at 6:30 p.m.  On October 21st, we’ll be bringing the Spending Revolt National Bus Tour to Portsmouth, NH for a gubernatorial forum at the Redhook Brewery.  Finally, the Spending Revolt National Bus Tour will stop in Concord for a grassroots bus signing event on Thursday, October 21st at 5:00 p.m. at the Draft Restaurant.

Spending Revolt is a new coalition of taxpayers, families, business owners, and policy organizations committed to educating and engaging citizens about how the mounting federal spending crisis is jeopardizing America’s future.  The red and blue emblazoned Spending Revolt Bus is bringing speakers, events, and a mobile activist hub to cities across New Hampshire, and hundreds of other locations nationwide, to demonstrate how the Federal Government’s escalating spending spree is bankrupting American taxpayers.  Participants will be encouraged to sign the bus and show their opposition to reckless government spending.

The Federal Government is currently spending $112,000 every second.  This amounts to $10 million in spending in the 90 seconds it takes to read this media release, $67 million in the 10 minutes needed to take a shower, and more than $1 billion in the 162 minutes that the average American spends watching television each day.  The national debt just ballooned to more than $13 trillion, and America’s debt is now projected to surpass GDP by 2012—placing the U.S. closer to the crushing debt load that has engulfed Greece.

“America faces a severe spending crisis that is rapidly bankrupting our nation from Barnstead to Washington, DC,” said a coalition statement.  “Washington is failing in its responsibility to safeguard the people’s resources.  We cannot afford to recklessly spend far beyond our means, and we have once again learned the hard way that no nation can spend its way to prosperity.”

“Current spending levels are unsustainable, irresponsible, and negligent,” the statement continues.  “We need real, permanent, and immediate spending reform in Washington to protect the economic security of all Americans.  We will fight for the taxpayers of New Hampshire and across America to stop this reckless spending.”
