NHDP - Chair's Statement on CD1 WMUR Debate

Concord - New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement after Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter highlighted the clear differences between her record working for the rest of us, and Frank Guinta's questionable candidacy at the WMUR debate this evening.

"Once again Mr. Guinta failed to be honest with Granite State citizens about the source of over $350,000.00 in mysterious funds that he failed to disclose with the FEC, and has been funneling into his campaign.  Despite calls from both Democratic and Republican Party leaders Mr. Guinta still refuses to release bank statements revealing the source of this secret money.

"Until Mr. Guinta is honest with New Hampshire voters there is no way they can trust him.  You can't demand the public's trust, you have to earn it, something that he has failed to do time and time again.  In these tough times New Hampshire can't afford to send anyone to Congress with as many question marks surrounding their candidacy as Frank Guinta has.

"Nor can we afford to have a representative who has called for ending Social Security, ending federal funding for Autism research, ending the Food and Drug Administration, and ending the Departments of Education and Energy.  Mr. Guinta's rhetoric is not only out of touch, it's dangerous, and would do serious harm to our state and our country."
