NHDP - Chair Ray Buckley in Response to Republican Lawn Sign Hypocrisy

Concord - New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement in response to the Republican Party's hypocrisy and refusal to denounce the inappropriate action of Judge Robert Stephen.

"This afternoon, I spoke to Dr. Lasky and he expressed to me deep regret for his actions. After weeks of constant smears and attacks by his wife's opponent, Gary Lambert, his frustration got the best of him. Lambert should be ashamed of his campaign of lies, and apologize to Senator Lasky immediately.

"Campaigns are always difficult on a candidate's family. A perfect example is when this past Friday evening, Judge Robert Stephen, the younger brother of Republican candidate for governor John Stephen, threatened a campaign volunteer because he was putting up Democratic signs. Judge Stephen not only threatened the volunteer personally, he also drove to the volunteer's place of employment to demand his firing.

"The real question is whether or not John Stephen and the Republican Party will denounce the Judge's behavior, and also take responsibility for stealing over 1,000 Democratic signs across the state last night. The Democratic Party does not condone the removal of campaign signs, and unlike the Republican Party, are willing to accept responsibility when it does occur.

"Dr. Lasky brought the signs that attack his wife to the Nashua Department of Public Works this morning. The Republican Party can pick them up there, just as if they were removed by public officials."
