NHDP Chair Ray Buckley's Statement on the Passing of Mary P. Chambers

Concord - New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement on the passing of former House Democratic Leader and Vice Chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party Mary P. Chambers of Etna.

"Last evening New Hampshire citizens lost a great and wonderful leader.  Mary Chambers dedicated her life to serving others. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, a skilled teacher and committed community activist. Mary touched the lives of countless thousands through her good works. Mary's list of accomplishments is lengthy and her many awards will never truly express the immense love and gratitude so many of us have toward her.

"She was a New Hampshire state representative for 20 years, served as House Democratic Leader from 1984-1992, Vice Chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party from 1993-1997, Member of the Democratic National Committee from 1988-1997, and Delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992, and 1996.

"For more than thirty years Mary has been my close friend, my gifted mentor, my biggest cheerleader, she was such a wonderful person to hundreds and hundreds of others over the decades. She was a constant source of inspiration and guidance for so many, and will be sorely missed by those of us who loved her and by all New Hampshire Democrats.  My thoughts and love are with her children Hank, Jim and Jane and their families during this painful time."
