DES MOINES, IA – Fred Karger, a possible 2012 Presidential candidate, is making his fifth trip this year to the Hawkeye State today to unveil his first Iowa commercial and name Nathan Treloar as State Director of his Presidential Exploratory Committee.
A press conference will be held at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Potomac Room, 101 East Locust St., Des Moines (515) 244-1700 – downtown, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 23rd.
The new 90 second spot titled, “Independence Day,” was shot throughout eastern and central Iowa by award winning filmmaker John Keitel. It contains footage from Karger’s four previous visits, including scenes from his first ever trip to the Iowa State Fair. The fast-paced, fun and informative ad will be broadcast throughout the state on CNN and Fox News for one week beginning Tuesday in Des Moines. It will then go viral on YouTube, and be available on Karger’s website, www.fredkarger.com.
Besides Fred, featured in the commercial are: President Obama, Iowa Governor-elect Terry Branstad, Iowa Governor Chet Culver, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Speaker-elect John Boehner, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, Democrat National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine, Sarah Palin and lots more. Karger will also name Iowa political veteran Nathan Treloar as his Exploratory Committee’s State Director.
New State Director, Nathan Treloar
During his 10-year career, Treloar has held various positions with the Republican Party of Iowa including Communications Director, House Majority Fund Finance Director, and as a county organizer. He also worked on the U.S. Senate campaign of Congressman Greg Ganske and the first gubernatorial campaign of Bob Vander Plaats.
Treloar now runs his own consulting firm providing voter outreach and communications services. His clients have included political action groups such as Newt Gingrich’s American Solutions, the Environmental Law and Policy Center, and several state and local candidates.

Karger, an Independent Republican, announced that he was seriously considering a 2012 Presidential campaign at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference on April 10, 2010. He would be the first openly gay candidate to run for President of the United States.
