Climate catastrophe? The end of civilization as we know it?
Cool It is based upon the book of the same name and lectures by Bjorn Lomborg, the controversial author of The Skeptical Environmentalist. Two-time Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner Ondi Timoner travels the world with Lomborg exploring the real facts and true science of global warming and its impact. Lomborg is the founder and director of the Copenhagen Consensus Center, a globally respected think tank that brings together the world’s leading economists to prioritize major global problems – among them malaria, the lack of potable water and HIV/AIDS – based upon a cost/benefit analysis of available solutions.
Cool It breaks through the polarizing debate on climate change, avoiding both the alarmism of Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth and the naysayers on the right by offering a third way, acknowledging the existence of climate change but offering alternative, drastically cheaper solutions to the problem that won’t throw countries into bankruptcy and will likely be far more effective than the solutions currently on the table.
Whether Republicans or Democrats control Congress next year, climate change will still be an important topic and, considering our financial crisis, cheaper, more effective solutions to climate change that won’t cripple our recovering economy, such as those described in Cool It, will be welcomed by all.
