Concord - New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement applauding today's vote in the United State's Senate to repeal the discriminatory 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' policy.
"I commend Senator Shaheen and her colleagues for voting to repeal the ban preventing LGBT Americans from openly serving in the United States' armed forces. The overwhelming majority of our men and women in uniform support the end of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell,' as does the vast majority of New Hampshire and American citizens, and both the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
"Inequity and discrimination are fundamentally Un-American ideals and they are exactly what 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' has represented for the past 17 years.
"I also want to thank all of the men and women serving in uniform around the globe for their continued sacrifice."
