Shea-Porter Statement on President Obama's Bipartisan Debt Reduction Commission

WASHINGTON, DC  — Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter today released the following statement regarding President Obama’s creation of the bipartisan National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform:

“We must get our fiscal house in order and that is why I support the creation of this bipartisan Commission.  As a cosponsor of similar legislation in the House, I was disappointed when the U.S. Senate failed to pass an amendment to create a bipartisan commission to find solutions to reduce the deficit and the debt.  I am pleased that President Obama took this necessary step forward today.”
