WASHINGTON, DC – Today the Democratic National Committee (DNC) released a new web video, “Mitt Romney: Wall Street’s Best Friend,”  calling out big banks’ “longtime defender and beneficiary” for siding with greedy Wall Street executives and blaming Main Street Americans for the economic collapse.

Please see below for a statement from DNC National Press Secretary Hari Sevugan:

“Despite the greed and the excess, the bailouts and the bonuses, the pain and the anger, Mitt Romney has joined every Republican Senator and taken the side of big Wall Street banks whose reckless and irresponsible practices got us into this mess to begin with over the side of the Main Street families they should be fighting for.  Any Republican who continues to stand with Wall Street instead of our families should expect that we’ll make sure that their constituents hear about it from now till November.”

CNN “DNC takes aim at Romney”: The initial stages of the next race for the White House won't gear up for months, but Democrats are already taking aim at one of the Republican Party's most likely presidential hopefuls.  As Senate Democrats are struggling to attract Republican support for their version of a financial reform bill, a new Democratic National Committee web video portrays former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as a longtime defender and beneficiary of Wall Street practices.  Romney does not have an official role in the current financial reform debate, but he has been one of the measure's most vocal critics among those considering a presidential bid.  The nearly 90-second video - titled "Mitt Romney: Wall Street's Best Friend" - highlights several past remarks from Romney defending Wall Street practices and chastising President Obama for comments critical of the banking industry.  http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/04/27/dnc-takes-aim-at-romney/?fbid=vvCCzRUqKhU

Politico Playbook  “FIRST LOOK – DNC TARGETS ROMNEY”:  with a video titled, “Wall Street’s Best Friend.” A Dem. official: “We're not waiting until this fall to make a campaign issue out of unanimous Republican opposition to Wall Street reform, we're starting right now. The video … is indicative of attacks other Republicans can expect if they continue to stand with Wall Street executives over Main Street Americans.” YouTube http://bit.ly/avTzLU  http://www.politico.com/playbook/0410/playbook1031.html

The Hill  “Dems aim at Romney, calling him 'Wall Street's best friend'”:  Democrats took aim at former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) over Wall Street reform legislation on Tuesday.  The Democratic National Committee (DNC) released a new video highlighting Romney's attacks on the financial reform legislation before Congress, calling him "Wall Street's best friend."  The video focuses squarely on Romney, a potential 2012 presidential candidate, in addition to congressional Republicans, whom Democrats attacked Monday for having opposed a procedural vote to advance the legislation.  "We're not waiting until this fall to make a campaign issue out of unanimous Republican opposition to wall street reform, we're starting right now," said a Democratic Party source.  Romney has been out in front of other 2012 Republicans in opposition to the bill, and is arguably the candidate most seen with the closest ties to the financial services industry, having graduated from the Harvard Business School and founded Bain Capital, a major private equity firm.   http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/94491-dems-aim-at-romney-calling-him-wall-streets-best-friend

ABC The Note  “More offense” ... the DNC isn’t waiting until fall to take it to Republicans, and surely isn’t waiting for 2012 to winnow down frontrunners. A new Web video -- “Mitt Romney: Wall Street's Best Friend” -- is being released Tuesday, “indicative of attacks other Republicans can expect if they continue to stand with Wall Street executives over Main Street Americans,” per a Democratic source. But so is Main Street.   http://www.politico.com/morningscore/0410/morningscore70.html
