The Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade is a 5.5 mile event which takes place in front of a million spectators live along the parade route. It is broadcast by nine major networks to a national audience of 40 million viewers. It is also televised in 215 countries including all Provinces in China for an additional 1.5 billion viewers. There are only 15 high school marching bands selected each year, and only one is chosen to represent all of New England. This occasion will mark the fourth time the Londonderry Marching Lancers will have participated in this New Year’s Day tradition (1992, 1997 & 2004).
Following performances in China for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Cultural Festival, and last year’s performance in the Presidential Inaugural Parade, the Londonderry High School Marching Lancers are once again working hard to prepare for yet another major event!
