Activist of the Month - Joanne Filiatreau

Name: Joanne Filiatreau
Age: 57
Hometown: Sherwood, AR

For a while, Joanne Filiatreau - like many Americans - didn't pay much attention to politics.  But last February, all that changed. "I started listening and I didn’t like what I was hearing," Mrs. Filiatreau explains.  She helped organize the first Tea Party rally in Arkansas on the front steps of the State Capitol, attracting 2,500 activists after only two weeks of planning.

Since then, Mrs. Filiatreau has contributed her efforts to AFP's Arkansas chapter by sending emails, making calls, and working at events.  Humble and uninterested in the spotlight, she prefers to work behind the scenes to motivate and encourage supporters.  "We’re all wishing for the same thing, for America to thrive and to be the America we grew up in," she says.

Mrs. Filiatreau, who worked thirty years in real estate, is now retired and enjoys spending time with her husband and three grandchildren.

Congratulations Joanne Filiatreau, you are AFP's activist of the month!
