I thought you would be interested in this follow up from the release sent yesterday.
In today’s New Hampshire Union Leader, Sean Mahoney responded to claims that he is soft on immigration. Instead of backtracking, Mahoney took his position even further, admitting he opposes deportation and that he is comfortable with drivers licenses for illegals:
Mahoney was accused by primary opponent Ashooh of being soft on immigration yesterday. Ashooh would deport illegal aliens rather than follow a policy that "rewards people for their illegal actions."
Ashooh said in a news release that Mahoney has a "register and release them" policy and "does not think the federal government should enforce existing immigration laws and deport people who we know are in the country illegally."
Mahoney said he favors the controversial Arizona crackdown law, but also said his policy is that illegal immigrants should be required to register, pay a fine, pay taxes and be required to "check in on a periodic basis." While here, they should receive no government-funded services, such as Medicaid. States should decide whether they receive drivers licenses.
