Shea-Porter to Present War Medals to Family of World War II Veteran Monday

Manchester, N.H. – On Monday, August 2, 2010, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter will present Mr. and Mrs. William Eugene and Jackie Bennett with the WWII Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal & Bronze Star Attachment (double), European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Marksman Badge & Rifle Bar. Mr. William Ellsworth Bennett, father of Mr. William Eugene Bennett, enlisted in the Army at the age of 21 on July 20, 1942 and separated from service on January 15, 1946.  He was stationed in Burma where he was a patrolman tasked with guarding and monitoring fuel pipelines. 

Since taking office in 2007, Congresswoman Shea-Porter has assisted 27 veterans or their families in obtaining a total of 136 overdue or replacement medals.
