“Mapping Our Future P.A.Y.S. (Preparing All Youth For Success)”
Concord, NH – More than 150 youth will gather tomorrow, Thursday, August 12 for the 6th Annual Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Teen Conference. The daylong conference is designed for youth ages 14 – 20 currently in or adopted from State care. There will be a number of workshops geared toward providing these youth with helpful information on topics such as obtaining employment, navigating the college admissions process and self advocacy. There will also be an opportunity for youth to network, and learn about resources to assist them as they transition from out-of-home placement to adulthood. Deputy Commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Mary Ann Cooney and DCYF Director Maggie Bishop will speak at the Conference. The keynote address will be an improvisational performance called “Gorilla Theater.”
There will be a talent show and an awards ceremony honoring youth and adults for their positive impact on youth in foster care.
The conference begins at 8:00 AM in the Sweeney Hall auditorium at the New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) in Concord.
