Shea-Porter to Meet with Seabrook Police Department, Will Outline Safe Prescription Drug Disposal and Education Act

SEABROOK, NH – Today, Monday, August 16th, Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter will discuss the problems of prescription drug abuse with the Seabrook, NH Police Department and outline her recently-introduced legislation, the Safe Prescription Drug Disposal and Education Act (H.R. 5925).  The Safe Prescription Drug Disposal and Education Act would provide grants to communities to install prescription drug drop-boxes and would also provide grants to communities for classes on the dangers of prescription drug abuse.  New Hampshire has seen a 200 percent rise in prescription drug abuse over the last ten years, and the Seabrook Police Department was the first police department in the State to install a prescription drug drop-box.
