American Action Network Begins Advocacy Campaign In Support of Kelly Ayotte

Campaign Highlights the Impact of Rep. Paul Hodes’s Support of Cap and Trade Policies on New Hampshire’s Economy and Families

Washington, DC-- The American Action Network announced the start of an advocacy campaign in opposition to Paul Hodes’s vote for ‘Cap and Trade’ legislation.  The campaign highlights the costs of the proposed Cap and Trade legislation that passed the U.S. House of Representatives last year.  In addition, the campaign seeks to inform New Hampshire voters that Kelly Ayotte, a Republican running for Senate in the state, is opposed to the House-passed bill.

“This advocacy campaign is designed to inform New Hampshire voters about the differences between the two candidates for U.S. Senate and is the start of a broader effort by the American Action Network to support center-right female policymakers.  We believe the voices and perspectives that these female policymakers bring to Congress are critical to our nation,” said Norm Coleman, CEO of the American Action Network.  “Kelly Ayotte’s conservative ideology, real-world experience and statewide leadership, in our view, makes her the most qualified person to serve in the U.S. Senate.”

“The Cap and Trade vote showed New Hampshire voters where Paul Hodes stood on this important energy issue.  He stood for higher taxes, higher electricity rates and higher gas prices,” said Rob Collins, President of the American Action Network.  “Paul Hodes stood against the concerns of senior citizens who struggle every day to make ends meet.”

“Kelly Ayotte, on the other hand, if she were elected to the Senate would stand with the people of New Hampshire and against this terrible and costly piece of legislation.  We believe this information is vitally important so that the voters can make an informed decision this November,” concluded Collins.

The advocacy campaign will cost approximately $450,000.

Camera begins slow, smooth dolly back to reveal that the woman is alone in her small apartment, very cold. She is covered by layers and layers of wool blankets. This is not witty, this is serious. Her sweet little face is barely visible among all the blankets. Pull back continues through spot.

Winter’s here soon. Guess Congressman Hodes has never spent nights sleepless unable to pay utility bills. Why else would he vote for the cap and trade tax? Raise electric rates by ninety percent. Increase gas to four dollars; cost us another two million jobs. Kelly Ayotte would stop the cap and trade tax cold.

Winter’s here soon. I suppose Congressman Paul Hodes has never spent a night sleepless, unable to pay his utility bills. He’s never spent a night cold, just wanting another blanket.

SFX: GENTLE MUSIC UP, MATCHING TV

DAVI:
Congressman Hodes must be a wealthy man. Why else would Hodes vote for the Cap & Trade tax? The Cap & Trade tax would increase electric rates by 90%. Increase the price of gas to four dollars. And, cost our economy another two million jobs. True numbers, from the experts. Paul Hodes is unaffordable. Kelly Ayotte would stop the Cap & Trade tax...cold. Vote Kelly Ayotte in the Republican primary.
