Ayotte For US Senate - Kelly's Campaign Bulletin - August 6, 2010

As of today, there are 39 days left until the primary. We’re really in the homestretch now!

Kelly had another busy week of campaigning. And as of this writing, she’s at the Cheshire Fair before another jam-packed weekend (see schedule below).

We need your help – now. To get involved, click here.

Watch Kelly’s New TV Ads

In case you haven’t already seen, Kelly released two new television ads this week. Entitled “Never Backed Down” and “Officer Briggs,” these spots take a close look at Kelly’s successful effort to secure a death penalty conviction for the murderer of Officer Michael Briggs. The spots started Wedneday. Click below to watch.

Paul Hodes Continues To Stonewall

Team Ayotte has kept the heat on Paul Hodes, demanding to know why he missed a full day of votes recently – including voting on the extension of unemployment benefits. The Concord Monitor reported last week that Hodes’ campaign cited a “scheduling issue” when explaining his absence.

Well, Hodes got asked the question again point blank this week – and he continued to stonewall. Hodes would only say he was “out of state.’

Rest assured that we will continue to hold Hodes’ feet to the fire. Bottom line, it’s unacceptable for a Congressman to miss a full day of votes and then refuse to account for his whereabouts.

Kelly In The News

Here’s a headline that got some attention: “NH GOP Senate candidate blasts new Supreme justice.” That’s the Associated Press story reporting on Kelly’s opposition to Elena Kagan.

And Kelly’s new ads got plenty of attention. Channel 9 had a story that aired on Wednesday, and the Concord Monitor wrote about the ads in a page one, top of the fold article.

Get Ready For The Mud

With just over five weeks to go until the election, be prepared: the mud is starting to fly.

We already saw it this week from Bill Binnie. He can’t defend statements he’s made in support of a Value-Added Tax, the bank bailout, his opposition to the Arizona immigration law, and his record of donations to liberal Democrats, so he’s lashing out at Kelly instead.

This campaign should be about issues important to New Hampshire voters. They deserve a dialogue between the candidates that is respectful and based on facts, not baseless accusations. We’ll continue to run a campaign that New Hampshire voters can be proud of.
