Refusal to Extend Tax Cuts Will Cost NH Families and Businesses
Concord, NH- Vice President Joe Biden is in New Hampshire today to have a “backyard discussion,” and raise funds for Democrat Annie Kuster’s Congressional campaign in New Hampshire’s 2nd District. Republican Charlie Bass called on Kuster to urge Biden, as Senate President, to require Congress to do its work before leaving Washington D.C. this week.
“Instead of having a ‘backyard discussion,’ Joe Biden should have a ‘back-to-work discussion’ with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid,” said Bass. “Congress is going to cut and run this week. It has failed to pass a budget, failed to complete the appropriations process, and failed to pass an extension of tax cuts for families and small businesses. Nancy Pelosi, Annie Kuster’s choice for Speaker, plans to leave this work undone, to languish in a post-election, lame-duck Congress. At that point, nothing will get done, and taxpayers will pay a heavy price.”
“By refusing to act on extending the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts, Democrats - who control the Senate, House, and Presidency - are about to raise annual taxes on New Hampshire families by $1,700. This is the Pelosi-Obama agenda that Annie Kuster promised to advance if elected to Congress. Kuster calls it a ‘new approach,’ but voters know it as the ‘failed approach’ that has millions of people out of work and our country headed towards insolvency.”
