NHDP -Statement of Ray Buckley on Florida Republicans' Decision to Violate the Primary Calendar

Concord, NH - New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Ray Buckley released the following statement on the Florida Republicans' decision violated the primary calendar and force New Hampshire's first in the nation primary closer to the holiday season.

"It is unfortunate that New Hampshire Republicans didn't stand up to their fellow Republicans in other states and defend our first in the nation primary this spring when they had the chance. For months, the silence from the NHGOP, Senator Kelly Ayotte, and Congressmen Frank Guinta and Charlie Bass, was deafening. Now, our primary is being forced closer and closer to the holiday season, and it may even be pushed all the way into December.

"Four years ago, along with Democratic chairs in the other early states I successfully asked the candidates to pledge not to campaign in states that violated the primary calendar and challenged New Hampshire's first in the nation status. When it comes to protecting our first in the nation primary, New Hampshire Republicans have been asleep at the switch."
