CONCORD – House Speaker William O’Brien today offered the following statement is response to the news of the passing of former Congressman Perkins Bass.
House Speaker William O’Brien
“Former Congressman Perkins Bass gave his career to public service and New Hampshire has lost a great man. From his service to the country in the Army Air Service as a decorated veteran, to his time as a State Representative, State Senator and Congressman, he was devoted to giving back to the Granite State that he cherished. In a true New Hampshire tradition, after his tremendous service as a state and federal elected official, he came back and served as selectman in Peterborough, the town he dearly loved, which speaks volumes about his strong civic commitment.”
“My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, and I particularly want to offer my condolences to Congressman Charlie Bass, who has worked so hard to follow in his father’s tremendous footsteps. This is a huge loss for New Hampshire, and particularly to Peterborough, which has lost two giants of its community recently in former Congressman Bass and former Governor Walter Peterson. I want to offer my support in this time of sadness.”
