Washington, DC—As Mitt Romney continues to say or do anything to become president—including deceiving Americans on his positions on the issues and in his campaign ads —the Democratic National Committee today is taking its effort to hold Romney accountable for his words to a new level with a new television ad entitled “Trapped,” which is running this week in six markets: Albuquerque, NM; Raleigh-Durham, NC; Columbus, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Washington, DC; and Milwaukee, WI on a mix of broadcast and cable. To watch the ad, click here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUOM9QvhG5I.
The TV ad is a trailer for a longer must-see video treatment available entitled “MittvMitt.com: The story of two men trapped in one body,” which can be found on the DNC's new website, MittvMitt.com - an effort to highlight Mitt Romney's fight against himself on a range of issues from the economy and immigration to a woman's right to choose and workers' rights.
To further amplify the effort, the DNC, along with state Democratic parties and elected officials across the country will hold events or calls to promote the video and put Mitt Romney's fight against himself on full display for voters in key states including: NM, OH, PA, VA, MD, WI, IA, NH, FL, MI and MA.
“The bottom line here is that character and values matter,” said DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse. “When he ran for President last time, Mitt Romney admitted he'd changed his position on a lot of issues. This time, he claims he's Mr. Consistency. Mitt Romney can't even take a position on taking a position. Republicans' favorite straw man is to talk about ‘uncertainty’ as a threat to growth. If people are scared of uncertainty, they should be terrified of Mitt Romney.
“The only thing Mitt Romney is consistent about is protecting those at the top - in other words, people like Mitt Romney—while telling middle-class families they're on their own. Democrats don't need any dirty tricks to prove Mitt Romney has no core convictions and no new ideas for creating jobs. We need only to let him speak for himself.”
