Manchester, NH - The Department of Labor released its October jobs report today, which some are hailing as good news because the economy added 80,000 jobs and unemployment fell from 9.1 to nine percent. This is pathetic! Nearly 14 million Americans are unemployed, and we could only create 80,000 new jobs?
Remember when Obama said after taking office that if the economy didn’t improve within three years he would be held accountable and shouldn’t be reelected? From where I stand, 80,000 net new jobs in one month is hardly improving. In January 2009, unemployment was at 7.6 percent, and 11.6 million Americans were out of work – that sounds pretty good to most of us right now.
America needs real leadership to bring our jobs back. We need a president who can bring together Republicans, Independents and Democrats and who puts the people above politics. We can’t stand idly by while our manufacturing industry packs up and moves to China. We need strong action that protects our industries from unfair trade practices and closes tax loopholes on corporations that move their jobs overseas. It’s time for new leadership, and time for Obama to join the ranks of the unemployed so that he can finally understand what the rest of us are so concerned about.
